Millwork, also called woodwork, provide a lovely finishing touch in homes and upscale commercial buildings. Millwork consists of baseboards, crown molding, fireplace mantels, window and door frames, interior doors, chair rail, paneling, and stair rail and pickets. Millwork adds taste and style to your home interior design.
What Kinds of Millwork Finishes are Available?
Millwork can be finished in several ways. Most common are paint, stain, and clear seal finishes. Woodwork that has been painted can be re-painted or removed, stripped, and stained or clear coated (more common with ornate, original millwork). When repainting millwork, it is important to remove any cracked, loose, or chipped paint, fill gaps and cracks with putty, and create as smooth a surface as you can.
